My hyphen/minus key stopped working, the one next to 0/), not the one in the numpad. i have an apple bluetooth keyboard. tried changing input languages and it didn't bring the key back, although i can still insert the symbol using a different language.. The apple mac keyboard and the dash the en-dash can be created by pressing the option and dash keys at the same time on the mac. you need to press the shift-option and the minus key to create the em-dash.. It's a one-or-the-other solution, but you could use the built in text-replacement on os x to replace a minus with a hyphen. on the left i typed a minus, on the right i inserted a hyphen from the os x character viewer..

Of course, this depends on your type of keyboard, language, layout etc. but on a standard english keyboard, there should be a key that has the hyphen as the main character, and an underscore as the shifted character..
